Now, my first issue with the story as a whole begins here. Without any hesitation, you agree to help and set off to introduce yourself to the rest of the inhabitants upon this small floating land. Once you’ve chosen your gender, Viktoria explains that all of the houses and special buildings were destroyed on ‘ Castaway Paradise‘ and they would love it if you could give them a hand in rebuilding their small town. Suddenly, the oceans begin to get rough, the clouds darken and before they knew it, they were capsized and sent down to Davey Jones’ locker! Before too long, a kelp creature emerges from the depths upon the shore of a mysterious island, a creature who is soon unveiled to be our protagonist covered in, you guessed it, kelp! You’re greeted by the Mayor of the town, Viktoria, and it’s here where you decide if you’re a boy or a girl – I like how the kelp covered up everything until this point so that the intro doesn’t have to be changed regardless of what you pick. I both like and dislike the story to Castaway Paradise as it’s fun and family friendly yet its ‘plot’ is littered with as many holes as a giant piece of swiss cheese! Our story begins when our protagonist is out in his small boat one day just bobbing along without a care in the world. Now it's just a lottery every single time you play because you never know when the game will glitch out on you.One of the most difficult choices in the game! It could have been a nice and relaxing game if the developers actually bothered to finish it and test it for bugs. This whole practice of releasing unfinished games should really stop and we should not buy crap like this. Don't waste your money on this garbage, unfinished product. It had potential but the bugs and glitches just completely ruin the fun. They should be ashamed that they released the game in this state. Sometimes characters just glitch out and can't give you quests anymore (it literally says 'test' then), other times you just can't remove certain tree stumps but then you can after going in and out of your house, other times the game just randomly levels you up 3 times in a row, other times quests just don't complete. The most random glitches keep happening at the most random moments in this game. I started 2 games (saves) and had to quit both of them because the game just completely glitched out. Even that I can forgive if the game would just be playable. It tries to be Animal Crossing but is far from it. What was supposed to give me a relaxing and laid back time quickly turned into a lot of frustration.
In the end I played this game with my children and they really enjoyed it because it does have a few similarities to that of Animal Crossing so if you’re a fan of these types of game’s then you will thoroughly enjoy your time with this game and when it’s all said and done this game gets more than enough right to get a recommendation from me. Does Castaway Paradise do enough to get a recommendation from me? It's one of those game’s that’s perfect to pass an hour or two here and there and it’s also a game that won’t cause you too much stress at all. There is some customisation present in the game but I found the customisation to be a little basic and in the end I was crying out for more. The game does suffer with a few technichal issues every now and then and whilst none of them are major issues they can still be quite annoying. The game does If you’re not a fan of slow paced game’s that have a likeness to Animal Crossing then this won’t change your mind any time soon.
